Seniors Can Apply for Education, Nursing Scholarships at ESU

by Gwendolynne Larson

Emporia, KS (11/12/2024) — Applications are now open for the Jones Premier Nursing and Education Scholarship at Emporia State. The scholarship is a competitive scholarship available to high-achieving graduating high school seniors in Lyon, Osage and Coffey counties who plan to major in education or nursing at Emporia State.

The Jones Foundation, named after Walter S. and Evan C. Jones, provides qualified, eligible applicants a full ride to pursue a career in education or nursing. Up to six high school seniors - one nursing student and one education student from each of the three counties served by the Jones Foundation (Lyon, Coffey, Osage) - are awarded the Jones Premier Nursing & Education Scholarship.

The scholarships, which are renewable for up to four years as long as the scholars meet grade and credit-hour benchmarks, include automatic admission into the Honors College at Emporia State. To apply, students must:

  • Have a 3.7+ weighted GPA OR a 28+ ACT score;
  • Complete two required essays;
  • Live in Lyon, Coffey or Osage counties.

The application deadline for the Jones Premier Nursing and Education Scholarship is Dec. 1, 2024.

The Jones Foundation also supports the Jones Success Scholarships at ESU. Watch for more information about that program in January.
