by Gwendolynne Larson

Emporia, KS (03/07/2019) — A partner for auditing firm KPMG is a new member of the Emporia State University Foundation. Troy D. Johnston of Spring, Texas, is an alumnus of ESU, earning a bachelor of science in business degree in accounting in 1988. Johnston began his career with KPMG in Wichita, Kansas, and is now audit partner for KPMG in Houston.

"I have always been proud to have graduated from Emporia State," said Johnston, a native of McPherson, Kansas. "I often reflect on the professors who helped me graduate and ultimately gain employment. Thirty years later, I benefit every day from what Emporia State University provided me. In becoming a trustee, I want to play a part in the university's long history of helping students become successful in their lives and careers."

Johnston is one of five new trustees on the 52-member board. The trustees come from varied backgrounds representing the three undergraduate colleges and 16 degree programs across campus. They use their talents and professional expertise to generate, acquire and steward the resources the university needs to fulfill its mission.

Trustees serve as role models for potential donors by generously contributing of their own time and resources. They are actively involved in university events and programs and serve to raise philanthropic resources to advance the mission of Emporia State University.
