Hornet Walk Recharged Replaces Parade for ESU Homecoming

by Gwendolynne Larson

Emporia, KS (10/21/2021) — The Emporia Marching Hornets, cheer squad and ESU football players will lead the route at 11 a.m. Saturday as Emporia State students in recognized student organizations travel campus between White Library and the tailgate area on the north end on Saturday morning.

The student Homecoming committee chose to recharge the game-day Hornet Walk and move it to campus as a change from the downtown parade. The community is invited to campus for the events. Those who want to watch can line the Pedestrian Mall on the west side of campus between Science Hall and Cremer Hall on the west and Morse Hall Complex and Abigail Morse Residence Hall on the east.

Emporia Marching Hornets will lead the walk and stage at 15th Avenue and Pedestrian Mall. The ESU football team will join them from the west side of Plumb Hall. Corky and ESU students in RSOs will assemble in front of William Allen White Library to fall in behind the football team.

The route runs from the Pedestrian Mall toward Welch Stadium then down the hill to the north parking lot tailgate area near the Student Recreation Center.
