Free ESU planetarium show explores invisible universe in February

Emporia, KS (01/30/2026) — Emporia State University's Peterson Planetarium gives attendees an awe-inspiring look at the cosmos in the latest presentation "Unveiling the Invisible Universe," showing throughout February.

Narrated by Gregory Patrick Karr, the fulldome planetarium show takes viewers back to the 17th century with Galileo, whose invention of the telescope revolutionized understanding of the universe. Then, learn how rockets made it possible to observe X-ray and gamma-ray radiation before exploring how experimentation with gravitational waves from two merging black holes opened a new window in astrophysics. Finally, Mark Brown, Peterson Planetarium director, invites guests to tour the night sky over Emporia followed by a Q&A session.

Shows are free and open to the public. Seating is limited and each attendee must register individually online at emporia.edu/planetarium.
