Documentary Premieres in Emporia

by Gwendolynne Larson

Emporia, KS (04/08/2019) — Charles Brown and Greg Schneider are friends and faculty colleagues at Emporia State University. They also are ideological opponents who disagree on how to achieve the common good.

The debate between Brown, a philosophy professor, and Schneider, a history professor, is the focus of "Charlie and the Common Good: Big Ideas in a Small Town," which will debut at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Granada Theatre in Emporia. The showing is free.

The movie follows Brown's preparation for a public forum with Schneider at the Emporia Arts Center in 2017. It also features conversations with local residents Ann Birney, Andrew Houchins, Joyce Thierer, Jesse Solis, Gail Fuller and more.

Filmmaker Pawel Kuczynski created the movie and will travel from Poland for the premiere. The movie will be entered in international film competitions.
