by Brian Osbourn

Emporia, KS (02/19/2024) — The 2024 Bonner and Bonner Diversity Lecture, featuring keynote speaker Wesley Hamilton, will take place on Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall. The theme of the keynote is "Overcoming Any Obstacles by Allowing Disruptions."

Hamilton is the founder of Disabled But Not Really, a nonprofit organization that empowers and inspires individuals with disabilities to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. As a global speaker and consultant, Hamilton champions inclusive training models, empowering individuals to embrace independence. According to the speaker, attendees will embark on a journey of learning how to overcome obstacles by wholeheartedly embracing them. Hamilton will discuss accepting things that may initially appear questionable and finding positive lessons in all experiences.

The event is free and open to the public with no tickets required.

The Bonner and Bonner Lecture series was named in honor of Drs. Thomas and Mary Bonner, who were ESU's first and second African American faculty members. The event is sponsored by the ESU Honors College; Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; University Libraries and Archives; Diversity Student Programs; Union Activities Council; Ethnic, Gender and Identity Studies; Counseling Services and Student Accessibility and Support Services.
