Encore Performances of Emporia WWII Film at ESU
Emporia, KS (10/28/2019) — As part of Emporia's All Veterans Tribute!, Emporia State University Special Collections and Archives will present the documentary "From Horse Cavalry to B-29: The Kansas Homefront During World War II" twice next week.
Originally produced by ESU's Channel 8 television studio, this film features Emporians and former Emporians Ray Call, Tess DeLong, Orville Hoch, Pete Maley, John Lehman, Lendley Black, Richard Keller and David Matheny. Additional commentary is contributed by Wichitans Dorothy Brooks and Bill Ellington, and Terry Van Meter, former director of the Fort Riley military museums.
"From Horse Cavalry to B-29: The Kansas Homefront During World War II" was written by Pat O'Brien and Loren Pennington, and is narrated by Ron Frederickson. Each presentation will include introductory remarks by Loren Pennington.
The film will be shown twice - at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, and at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the William Allen White Library Exhibit Hall outside Room 119. The audience is limited to 30 persons at each presentation. A recently donated model of the William Allen White B-29 used during World War II will be on display during these events.
