Yiqing Fu recognized for work on Emporia State student newspaper

Yiqing Fu of Guangdong, China, was honored during the spring 2012 semester for work on The Bulletin, the student newspaper of Emporia State University.

Fu was awarded second place for feature photography..

The 23 individual awards were presented at the 2012 Kansas Association of Collegiate Press conference in Salina, Kan. The Bulletin also received the All-Kansas award for its website and the All-Kansas award for its print edition for the second consecutive year.

Founded in 1863 as Kansas State Normal - the state's premier institution to educate teachers - Emporia State University offers 42 undergraduate and 27 graduate degrees in the School of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Library and Information Management and The Teachers College. SLIM also offers a Ph.D. program.

Two programs in journalism are offered through the Department of English, Modern Languages and Journalism. Students may earn a journalism minor with 21 hours or certification in journalism as a second teaching field for education majors.

Emporia State is ranked as a Tier 1 Top 100 Regional University in the 2012 edition of "Best Colleges" compiled by U.S. News & World Report. The publication also cited ESU's School of Business as a best value for both in-state and out-of-state students.
