Ross Rundell Represents Emporia State University at Regional Theater Festival

Ross Rundell of Salina, Kan., was among 20 Emporia State University students to attend the Region V annual meeting of the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival at Iowa State University Jan. 15 through 21.

Rundell earned first place for his design portfolio and presentation, was cited for his sound design for last spring's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and was a member of the ESU Stage Crew Showdown team that made it to the top four.

Nearly 1,600 students and faculty from more than 50 colleges and universities in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota attended the festival.

During the week, students had the opportunity to compete for scholarships as well as recognition of their design, directing and stage crew skills. They also could participate in workshops and theater readings directed by various faculty members from the region.
