Nathan Short to compete in theater festival

Nathan Short of Paola, Kansas, will represent Emporia State University at the Kennedy Center Region V American College Theatre Festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jan. 17 - 23.

At the festival, students from a seven-state region perform in a number of competitions, including the Michael Kanin Playwriting Award through the Kennedy Center and the $2,000 Irene Ryan Scholarship, which requires a nomination to audition.

Student designers, playwrights, stage managers, directors, & technicians will also present their portfolios and projects at the weeklong festival.

Short will compete for the Irene Ryan Scholarship for his role in "South Pacific" and participate in the SDC directing initiative.
