2012 May 22

Marissa Germann of Wichita, Kan., is a new Peer Academic Leader, or PAL, at Emporia State University.

PALs is a student-mentoring program created in spring 2012. PALs work with the Student Advising Center to create and market programming primarily for first-year students and assist with Hornet Connection sessions by answering questions from incoming freshmen and their parents regarding the freshman first-year experience. Peer Academic Leaders also serve as role models for first-year students.

Criteria for selection as a PAL included being a full-time student with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and being comfortable talking to groups and answering questions.
