Lindsay Cuadra honored for chapter recognitions

2015 Nov 18

Lindsay Cuadra of Emporia, Kansas, is a member of one of two honorary student organizations housed in the School of Business at Emporia State University that have received special recognition for significant achievements within their national chapters.

The Emporia State chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honorary organization for accounting, finance and information systems at AACSB-accredited universities, was awarded Superior Chapter at this year's annual meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Chapters are evaluated annually on their service to members, campus, community and profession. Achieving Superior Chapter status signifies that students within this organization focus on chapter activities and initiatives that will enhance their collegiate experience and help them excel after graduation

Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honors society for AACSB-accredited business programs, awarded the Emporia State chapter Highest Honors for the 2014-15 academic year. This status is indicative of a campus where academic excellence is valued and where faculty officers work diligently to enhance Beta Gamma Sigma's stature on campus. A Highest Honors status qualifies Emporia State for Chapter of the Year and Advisor of the Year awards.

Upon receiving this recognition, the BGS chapter at Emporia State was awarded a Leadership Scholarship, which covers the cost of one student registration to the Global Leadership Summit in Orlando, Florida.

Cuadra, a graduate student in Accountancy, is a member of Beta Alpha Psi.

"The School of Business is very proud of the students and faculty that belong to these organizations, said Dr. John Rich, interim dean for the school of business and professor of accounting. "Having the chance to participate in an organization focused on academic success and leadership provides many networking and developmental opportunities to our students".

Both organizations are recognized by AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
