Landon Noll in Emporia State production of 'Nunsense'

2014 Jun 18

Landon Noll of Winchester, Kansas, is part of cast and crew presenting "Nunsense," the second show of Emporia State University Summer Theatre's 60th anniversary season. "Nunsense" has been presented at Emporia State twice before and this year marks its 30th anniversary as an international theatre sensation.

The story is familiar to the show's many fans. When the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium that is currently set up for the eighth grade production of "Grease." Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon. With more than 5,000 productions worldwide, it has been translated into 21 languages.

Noll is the lighting assistant.

Anna Ryan, who serves the production as music director, leads the band. The musicians include Sue Seeman, James Davis and Jacob Rankin. Lindy Bartruff is the production choreographer.

All performances are in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre in King Hall, with a 7:30 p.m. curtain. Tickets are available from the university box office at 620-341-6378.
