Emporia State student Kangwon Song part of 'dansical'

2011 Apr 27

Kangwon Song, a junior from Busan, South Korea, is in the cast of "Dream Park in Eighties City," a spring dance show at Emporia State University. The show, presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, has no admission charge. It is a free gift to the community for its ongoing support of ESU Theatre students and activities.

The show spins the dreams and schemes of 17 city dwellers on an edgy spring day. In the tradition of "Contact," and "Movin' Out," two successful "dansicals" on Broadway, the '80s story is told through lyric and dance, from angst to aerobics. Hot hits including Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car," Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero," and The Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men" are featured.

"Dance Park in Eighties City" has been conceived, directed and choreographed by Lindy Bartruff, adjunct professor of dance.
