Emporia State Student Thomas Martin Receives Award for Teaching Excellence

Thomas Martin of Topeka, Kan., received a Graduate Teaching Assistant University Award for Excellent Teaching from Emporia State University. Martin was nominated by Cathy Grover, associate professor of psychology. These awards were established by the Emporia State University Graduate Council in November 2005.

Nominees were required to submit a portfolio supporting their teaching excellence. Portfolios included a one-page statement of teaching philosophy, student evaluations, faculty evaluations, sample lesson plans and any other materials which demonstrated excellence in teaching. A faculty committee representing the Graduate Council selected the award recipients.

Martin is working on his master's degree in School Psychology.

Martin will be honored at ESU's 2012 Research and Creativity Day on April 26, 2012, and will receive a cash award of $250.
