2011 Apr 28

Celebrating the promise of continued academic achievement, Emporia State University introduced its 12 newest Shepherd Scholars Thursday, April 28.

Among the Shepherd Scholars:

Chase McIver, Overbrook. Chase is a graduate of Santa Fe Trail High School, Carbondale. He is working on two bachelors degrees--one in secondary education/mathematics, the other in modern languages (Spanish).

"We look forward to your success next year, and to your continued achievement as you continue your education," said Dr. Michael R. Lane, ESU president.

"This is the 17th year for the Shepherd Scholars program, and we extend our thanks to the Shepherd family for their generosity," said Lane. Augusta Shepherd and her late husband, R. Herschel Shepherd of Emporia established the program to provide financial support for ESU's most accomplished students as they approach their senior year in college.
