Aaron John Mejia a Candidate for Undergraduate Degree at Emporia State University

Aaron John Mejia of Emporia, Kan., was a candidate for undergraduate graduation from Emporia State University during commencement exercises May 12. Mejia earned a bachelor of science in education, physical education.

Approximately 600 students were candidates for undergraduate degrees.

Students could graduate with the following distinctions:

  • With honors: completed at least six honors courses or activities through participation in the University Honors Program and had an overall grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0.
  • With high honors: completed an honors thesis along with all requirements as "with honors."
  • Cum laude: overall GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0.
  • Magna cum laude: 3.7 GPA
  • Summa cum laude: 3.9 GPA

Commencement speakers included Robba Moran, a member of the Kansas Board of Regents. The commencement address was delivered by Lana Scrimsher Oleen of Manhattan, an Emporia State alumnae, chair of the ESU Foundation and former Kansas senator.
